The best leveraged ETFs are those that did what they aimed to do. Those that are 2X should have preformed twice as good as the index they attempt to mirror and those with 3Xs should be three times. There are also inverse leverages ETFs. Both types attempt to do this on a daily basis.
The Direxion Daily Technology Bull 3X Shares with a symbol of TYH came close to pulling off the 3X performance of the index it mirrors. It had a percentage of market return for 2009 of 240.15%.
The Direxion Emerging Markets Bull 3x Shares with a stock symbol of EDC did not fare as well but still had a respectable percentage of market return of 206.32% for the year 2009.
The ProShares Ultra Technology with a stock symbol of ROM did have a respectable return as a percentage of market return for the year 2009 at 146.38%.
The ProShares Ultra Semiconductor with a symbol of USD did okay with a percentage of market return for 2009 of 137.57%
The ProShares Ultra Basic Materials with a symbol of UYM had a percentage market return of 126.82% for the year 2009.
The ProShares Ultra QQQ with a stock symbol of QLD also did respectable on its daily trading with a percentage of market return for 2009 at 121.20%.
The ProShares Ultra Russell Midcap Growth with a stock symbol of UKW is the first one on the list that did not break the 100% mark. This fund had a percentage of market return for 2009 at 92.74%
If you decide ETF investing is the way you wish to invest, make sure you do not take your entire portfolio and sink it in any one of these. These are daily traded funds. These were the best leveraged ETFs as far as returns for 2009.
