The best Silver ETF Funds are not hard to find. This poor man’s gold is a solid investment, if it is chosen wisely. There are only 14 ETFs and ETNs that are solely investing in silver. 7 of these are just ETFs with one ETN. The remainder are leveraged ETFs. Three in this list are from Canada and 5 are from England.
The stock symbols for all of them are SLV, USV, SIVR, DBS, AGQ, ZSL, HZD-TSX, HZU-TSX, HUZ-TSX, LSIL-LSE, PHAG-LSE, PHSP-LSE, SSIL-LSE, and SLVR-LSE.
By far, the best performer is the iShares Silver Trust with a ticker of SLV. This fund was started in April of 2006 and has had a one year performance of 56.67%, along with a 3 year performance of 9.06%. The expense ratio of this fund is at 0.50% and is currently holding 295,088,143.400 ounces in its trust which is equivalent to 9,178.27 tonnes of silver. This makes the total assets of this ETF at $5,287,549,882 with 300,900,000 shares outstanding. The average daily trading volume is 10.4 million shares. This is a four star fund as rated by Morningstar that is average on returns and low risk. The volatility measures for the past three years are a beta at 0.60, an R squared at 66, and a standard deviation of 35.68.
The PowerShares DB Silver Fund DBS is another good performer. It had an annual return last year of 48.75% and a three year return of 7.98%. This fund has $64.4 million in silver assets with an average daily trading volume of 87k. The expense ratio of this fund is 0.75%. The volatility measures of this fund for the past three years are a beta at 0.61, the R squared at 68, and the standard deviation of 35.86.
When ETF investing, silver is solid due to its constant demand. These two are the best Silver ETF Funds at the present time, but always invest when informed.
