India ETF Mutual Funds

The India ETF Mutual Funds are a mechanism investors can take to tap into an economy that rose over 8% for the third quarter of 2009. This is a country that is the largest democracy in the world and its economy is third largest in Asia and still growing.

Investing in India ETF’s has limitations due to the rules that are in place for direct investment by foreigners for those that are on the NSEIndia and BSEIndia. A few of them are traded on the NYSE that bypass this limitation and allow investors to get a stake in this emerging country.

One of the ETF’s from India that is on the NYSE is WisdomTree India Earnings (EPI). This ETF had a return last year of 95.08% and an YTD of 8.11% this year so far. The average trading volume of this fund is 937k shares. This is a large growth fund with investments in companies only in India. There are a total of 124 companies stocks that are being held by this fund with a turnover rate of 42% annually. The top ten holdings make up 43.72% of the fund’s assets and this fund has an expense ratio of 0.88%.

Another promising ETF that invests in India is the PowerShares India (PIN). It had a one year return for 2009 of 79.68% and this year so far the YTD is 5.07%. The average trading volume of this ETF is 277k. This is a large growth ETF with a total of 50 stocks in it holdings of which the top ten are 51.98% of the total assets. The annual turnover rate is 32% and the expense ratio is 0.78%.

When ETF investing it is best to remember the India ETF Mutual Funds are investments in an emerging market country any may fluctuate more that the established markets.
